Los Angeles based singer-songwriter, Ashlynn Malia provides a portal to her inner world through the music she creates. Her lyrics are deeply personal and honest as she attempts, in her words, “to understand herself better through her writing.” Inspired by artists such as Lorde and FKA Twigs, she is deeply dedicated to the world she creates around her music, using her passion for directing and experience as a professional dancer (you can find her dancing in music videos for artists such as Justin Bieber and Taylor swift) to give her listeners a unique and authentic space to take in her music. Her debut EP, rather be alone, released on June 25, 2021. It includes her song ‘desperate’, which can be heard in an episode of Stephen King’s The Stand on CBS as well as multiple dance films and movement visuals. Since her debut she’s released singles such as Coordinates and Lucky Guess (2022), wrote and was featured on Kimtee’s 2022 track ‘Dying to Miss Out,’ and most recently released ‘navigating galaxies,’ an EP recorded entirely through voice memos while she was recovering from a foot injury and was unable to walk for months. Malia’s innovation and genre exploration continues with her recent Pop releases ‘Feels So Good’, ‘Nobody Else,’ and ‘Cool Girl’ garnering her a large and growing following on TikTok and other social media and streaming platforms. With interviews with Nylon, Wonderland, and Galore magazine under her belt, her projects are gaining momentum. Malia hopes to create a feeling of community and connection around her music, with Pop Passion music blog calling her an artist with “a natural endowment for crafting stories that relay personal sentiments while simultaneously transcending to the metaphysical”.
